On the Beach is the fifth studio album by Canadian-American singer-songwriter Neil Young, originally released in July 1974 via Reprise Records. A special and pivotal moment in Young’s musical history, the album explores the evolving counterculture of the 1970s with distanced imagery and raw, unflinching honesty. Ranked #311 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Recorded at Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California and Sunset Sound in Hollywood, the album features a stellar range of musicians: Crazy Horse’s rhythm section Billy Talbot (bass) and Ralph Molina (drums), along with Ben Keith, Tim Drummond, Levon Helm and Rick Danko (The Band), Rusty Kershaw, David Crosby, and Graham Nash. About This Pressing
