About This Album

Brenton Wood's 18 Best on Black Vinyl LP (Craft Recordings, 2024, vinyl debut) gathers eighteen of the Los Angeles soul singer's classic sides, pressed on vinyl for the first time. It pairs the career-defining trio of Gimme Little Sign, Oogum Boogum and Baby You Got It with the smooth doo-wop of Me And You and the lowrider-soul favorite Catch You On The Rebound. Born Alfred Jesse Smith, Wood moved to Los Angeles, drew on idols Sam Cooke and Jesse Belvin, and broke through on Double Shot Records in 1967. This edition gives the long-running 1992 compilation its first vinyl pressing, in classic black.
