Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Ella and Louis [Vinyl LP]
Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Ella and Louis [Vinyl LP]
One of the most beloved and effortlessly beautiful jazz albums ever recorded, on vinyl LP. Ella and Louis (1956) was captured in a single day at Capitol Studios, Hollywood — the evening after both artists had performed at an all-star concert with Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson. With no time for rehearsals, all songs were set in Louis' key, and the results feel spontaneous, intimate, and absolutely timeless.
Accompanied by the Oscar Peterson Quartet (Peterson on piano, Herb Ellis on guitar, Ray Brown on bass, and Buddy Rich on drums), the album showcases two of jazz's greatest voices in their purest form. This 2013 Verve Records reissue brings the album back to vinyl with warmth and fidelity intact.
