In the Dark is the penultimate studio album by the legendary American rock band Grateful Dead, originally released in 1987. It became the band’s first Top 10 album, powered by their first Top 10 hit single, Touch of Grey. Many of the songs had been in the live repertoire since 1982-1986 and are now considered bona fide classics, including Throwing Stones, West L.A. Fadeaway, Hell in a Bucket, and the beautiful ballad Black Muddy River. Co-produced by longtime engineer John Cutler with Jerry Garcia; the basic tracks were recorded live at the Marin County Civic Auditorium to capture the Dead’s live energy. 7 tracks.
