Midnight Blue is a studio album by American jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell, originally recorded and released on Blue Note Records in January 1963. Widely regarded as Burrell’s masterwork, the album wades deep into the blues, conjuring an alluring late-night vibe with a profoundly soulful ensemble: Stanley Turrentine (tenor saxophone), Major Holley Jr. (bass), Bill English (drums), and Ray Barretto (congas). All compositions by Burrell including the solo guitar piece Soul Lament, Chitlins con Carne, Midnight Blue, and Saturday Night Blues. 7 tracks. The cover was designed by Reid Miles, one of the all-time great Blue Note cover designs.
