About This Album

Metallica's St. Anger on black vinyl 2LP (Blackened Recordings, 2014) is the band's raw eighth studio album, originally released in 2003. Recorded as a trio with producer Bob Rock on bass after Jason Newsted's departure, the album trades guitar solos for a stripped-down, bruising attack, from Frantic to the Grammy-winning title track. The turbulent sessions were captured in the documentary Some Kind of Monster, with cover illustration by longtime collaborator Pushead. This 2014 Blackened reissue spreads the album across four sides in a gatefold sleeve.
