Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese [200g Vinyl LP]
Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese [200g Vinyl LP]
Released in 1991, Sailing the Seas of Cheese is Primus’ major-label debut — and the album that broke the San Francisco trio to a wider audience, eventually earning the band their first Gold certification. Built around Les Claypool’s extraordinary fretless bass, Larry LaLonde’s seasick metal guitar, and Tim Alexander’s Bill Bruford-inspired drumming, the record is a singular statement of technical virtuosity and acerbic humour that influenced a generation of alternative and metal acts.
This 2013 Interscope reissue features a new stereo mix by Les Claypool himself, pressed on 200-gram heavyweight vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (QRP) — the gold standard for audiophile pressings — with a full-size lyric sheet insert.
Why collectors love this pressing:
- 200g QRP pressing — dead-silent surfaces and exceptional dynamics
- New stereo mix personally overseen by Les Claypool
- Full-size lyric sheet insert — faithful to the original release
- Features Tommy the Cat, Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, and Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers
