(Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and Jam Master Jay), originally released March 27, 1984 via Profile Records — a foundational, genre-defining record that ushered in the new school of hip-hop with its stripped-down, rock-influenced beats. Primarily produced by Russell Simmons and Larry Smith. Includes the pioneering classics It’s Like That, Sucker M.C.’s (Krush-Groove 1), Rock Box (one of the first rap-rock crossovers), and Hard Times.
