About This Album

Travesía (Spanish for "journey") is a 20-track retrospective compilation of music by Japanese composer and producer Ryuichi Sakamoto, curated by five-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu — who famously collaborated with Sakamoto on the score for The Revenant (2015, Best Picture). Iñárritu spent six months listening to over 1,000 pieces by Sakamoto before selecting 20 tracks that span nearly four decades of his career. Focuses primarily on Sakamoto's solo work, deliberately including some lesser-known tracks. Also features a brand new, never-before-heard remix of "The Revenant Main Theme" by Sakamoto's long-time collaborator Alva Noto. Milan Records / Sony, 2023.
