Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is the third studio album by The Smashing Pumpkins, originally released October 24, 1995 via Virgin Records. Produced by Billy Corgan, Flood, and Alan Moulder. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and is certified 9× Platinum in the US, with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1996 (Bullet with Butterfly Wings). Voted Best Album of 1995 in Rolling Stone’s readers’ poll; included in Rolling Stone’s Essential Recordings of the ’90s. A sprawling, ambitious double album in the tradition of The Wall and London Calling, spanning 28 tracks across two conceptual halves: Dawn to Dusk and Twilight to Starlight. Features Tonight, Tonight, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Zero, 1979, Thirty-Three, Thru the Eyes of Ruby, and Farewell and Goodnight.
