About This Album

Battleship Potemkin is a 2005 electronic and orchestral score written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of Pet Shop Boys to accompany Sergei Eisenstein’s landmark 1925 Soviet silent film, depicting a naval mutiny during the 1905 Russian Revolution. The score was premiered on September 12, 2004 at a free outdoor concert in London’s Trafalgar Square before an estimated 25,000 people, performed with the Dresdner Sinfoniker conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer, with orchestrations by Torsten Rasch. Blending Pet Shop Boys’ signature electronic pulse with sweeping orchestral grandeur, the score follows the film’s five acts. Originally released as a CD-only title in 2005. Released on vinyl for the first time in 2025 to mark the centenary of Eisenstein’s film and the 20th anniversary of the original score’s release.

First-ever vinyl release of Battleship Potemkin, pressed on 180-gram black vinyl 2LP, featuring a 2025 remaster. Parlophone / Rhino Records, September 5, 2025.
